About (who I am)
I am the head roaster for Joe Bean Coffee Roasters.
I am continually fascinated by coffee, and its rich history. Everything from the complexities of its agricultural processing, to the chemical processes of roasting, and finally to its presented stage of brewing. It is unbelievable how sensitive coffee is, and how much attention to detail it requires at every stage in its process. As I learn more and more, I realize how little I actually know. To begin to have a comprehensive understanding of coffee would require a lifetime of research, and while I am only a few years deep in my own research, I hope to continue down this path for many years to come.
I have had tremendous opportunities to attend and participate in industry events, seminars, retreats, certifications, and competitions. The sense of community within the specialty coffee industry is a very beautiful thing, and quite encouraging.
I am interested in anything related to the art of coffee, and how it can influence communities of people. As I write posts, I hope to share small revelations of this with you.
